About Tegan

As a registered Psychologist with Clinical Endorsement, I am committed to providing quality psychological support. Every individual brings a unique narrative, a set of experiences, and personal goals. My role is to provide a space where these stories are heard, understood, and nurtured. Clients often express appreciation for the safe and welcoming environment I create, and describe my approach as warm, caring, and empathetic.

I hold a special interest in women's health, late-diagnosed (or suspected) adult neurodiversity, and creating safety to heal from the various forms of trauma. I believe in the transformative power of understanding one's past, to shape a healthier present and future.  But therapy, for me, is more than just techniques and modalities. It's about genuine connection, understanding, and walking alongside you as you navigate the complexities of life.

Treatment Approach

With a wealth of experience in supporting individuals on their mental health journeys, I understand that each journey is distinct and deeply personal. This understanding is the cornerstone of my integrative therapeutic approach. By blending principles from Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (including aspects of DBT/mindfulness), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mind-body approaches like EMDR, I strive to provide care that is both holistic and tailored to each individual.

My methods, firmly rooted in scientific research, are further enhanced by a focus on building personal strengths, illuminating unseen influences, and developing practical problem-solving skills with a solution-based perspective. This approach is not just about overcoming challenges; it's about fostering self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful growth.

If you are seeking a dedicated professional to accompany you on your path to mental well-being, I invite you to connect with me. Together, we can navigate a journey of self-discovery and healing with moments of light-heartedness. I'm here to support you when you're ready to take the first step.

Qualifications

My journey to becoming a professional psychologist involved comprehensive and advanced training. I earned my Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) with Honours and a Masters of Psychology (Clinical) from Bond University. While completing a 5th and 6th year of formal university education is not mandatory for all psychologists, I chose to pursue these additional qualifications to deepen my expertise.

My Masters degree in Clinical Psychology was an opportunity to engage in rigorous postgraduate training under the guidance of university experts. This was complemented by a further two-year post-graduate supervision registrar program. Beyond my formal education, I am deeply committed to ongoing professional development. This commitment involves regularly updating my skills and knowledge to stay abreast of the latest developments in psychology. This dedication to continuous learning ensures that I offer the best possible service, integrating the most current and effective practices in my work with clients.
