Fees and Referrals
As an experienced clinical psychologist, I am committed to providing accessible and high-quality mental health care. To receive a partial fee rebate through Medicare for our psychology sessions, here are the steps you need to follow:

Step 1: Obtain a Referral and Mental Health Care Plan
Visit your General Practitioner (GP) and discuss your mental health concerns.
Request a valid referral and a Mental Health Care Plan specifically for psychology services.

Step 2: Understanding the Fees
The fee for each psychology session is set at $205. With a Mental Health Care Plan, you are eligible to receive a rebate of $137.05 per session. This means your out-of-pocket cost will be $67.95 per session.

Step 4: Providing Your Documents
Please ensure your GP includes the following in your referral:
(a) A referral letter addressed to Tegan Hopkins at Holding Space Clinical Psychology.
(b) A copy of your Mental Health Care Plan.
Submit these documents via email before your initial consultation to ensure a smooth process.

Self Referral
You can access my psychology services without a referral from a GP or another healthcare specialist. To refer yourself, simply email me at tegan@teganhopkins.com or use the contact form on this website. For sessions without a Mental Health Care Plan, the full standard consultation fee of $205 applies, and these sessions do not qualify for a Medicare rebate.

Private Health Care
If you don't have a Mental Health Care Plan but are covered by Private Health Care Insurance, you may be eligible for a rebate. Please check with your insurer regarding your plan coverage for psychology and the necessary billing item codes.

The consult fee for a standard 50-minute session is $205, applicable for any referral pathway. An invoice will be emailed to you on the day of the session, and payment via EFT is required within 24 hours. Failure to complete payment in this time frame will lead to the cancellation of future sessions.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide at least 24 hours' notice. A 50% cancellation fee applies for notices shorter than 24 hours. In cases of no notice, the cancellation fee is 100%. Please note, exceptions to this policy, may be granted in case of emergency or sickness.

Bulk billing and referrals via other pathways are not accepted. Services excluded from my practice include: therapy for children and adolescents, couples therapy, family-based therapy, or therapy for neurological conditions. I do not conduct assessments of competency, neuropsychological or cognitive functioning, learning ability, or provide medico-legal reports for family courts, compensation claims, or employers.
